Jenn and Chris at La Valencia

I had such a great time creating these centerpieces for Jenn and Chris this last weekend.  The mixtures of green and purple flowers with natural elements turned out perfect!  Here are the centerpieces from the day, hopefully I will have bouquet pictures soon.

The flowers were a mixture of mini green hydrangea, purple ranunculus, ivory lisianthus, purple asters, green cymbidium orchids and purple cymbidium orchids with succulents as a really pretty accent.

Carmele and Matt

Back in September I was thrilled to make an all white orchid bouquet and popping orange boutonnieres for the groom and groomsman.  Check out these pics that Nathaniel Kam sent over this morning...

As always I have to thank Courtney Tibbets or After the Engagement for the wonderful referral!!!  I love working with you Courtney!!!

El Cortez

This is my most recent wedding...it was held at the El Cortez on May 10th and was an absolute pleasure to put together. The main flowers of the entire wedding were cymbidium orchids and were used in every aspect of the wedding. Half of the centerpieces for the reception were dark Manzanita branches in tall vases which were filled with coffee beans and topped with little green button chrysanthemums. On the branches we place mini white and pink cymbidium orchids and hung votive candles for a glowing effect. The other half of the centerpieces were a trio of vases that incorporated food since the groom is a chef. The first vase was a tall cylinder with a white cymbidium orchid stem floating in water. The next vase was a medium cylinder with a shite candle surrounded by split peas. The last of the vase trio was a short square vase which was filled with 2 green apples and 2 limes filled with water and topped with a white floating candle.

My favorite part of the wedding was the bouquets but unfortunately we forgot to take pictures of them before we dropped them off to the bride and her bridesmaids. The brides bouquet was a mixture of white hydrangea, green cymbidium orchids, white cymbidium orchids and white roses. I wrapped it in white satin ribbon and added a silver and CZ broach to match the brides dress which was white with silver embroidery on the bodice. The bridesmaids wore dark brown dresses so Angie, the bride, wanted to lighten their bouquets up so that they would pop in the pictures. Their bouquets consisted of white hydrangea, white cymbidium orchids, tiny little pink-ish purple wax flowers and pink-ish purple mini calla lilies. They were wrapped in champagne ribbon and were very pretty. Hopefully I will get the pictures from the photographer soon so that I can post the pictures for everyone to see.Everything turned out beautiful and I hope that you all enjoy the pictures. I hope to have more up soon. :)

Looking Forward

This is my first blog so bear with me...I have created this blog to share my work with everyone. I have finally decided that I am going to concentrate full time on floral design with an emphasis on weddings. This has been a dream of mine for a long time and I don't want to pass this up. I will be posting pictures of my work on this blog and would love your feedback and referrals.
This piece is a sample bouquet that I made for a bride who is getting married on May 10th. The ceremony will be at the Greek Orthodox Church and the reception will be at the El Cortez!!! I am very excited to work at the El Cortez and can't wait. In regards to this bouquet, it is a classic hand tied bouquet made from green cymbidium orchids (my current favorite flower), magenta roses, peach/orange roses, dark purple ranunculus, light blush ranunculus, pinkish purple fressia and accents of green coffee bean. The freesia made the bouquet smell absolutely divine, they are much more fragrant than roses. It was wrapped in hot pink chiffon ribbon and pinned with pearl straight pins. I loved loved loved the dynamic contrast of colors. I think that all the colors popped and would be gorgeous with almost any color dress. I wish I could have kept it because it was just sooo pretty but I had to give it up :(. Needless to say, I got the job and am very excited to work on this wedding.
I will continue to post my work and hope that everyone enjoys it.
thanks, Sally :)
